Former CW2 Jack S. Thomas, who had served with the 27th Land Clearing Team in Vietnam, passed away on 17 October 2011, from reportedly unconfirmed causes. Most recently a resident of Pensacola, Florida, "Chief" Thomas was born on June 30th, 1932. As the 27th's Chief Warrant Officer in Vietnam, during 1967 and '68, he served as head of Maintenance, while earning the overwhelming respect and admiration of his entire Team of "Jungle Eaters." He leaves behind his wife, Margaret, daughters Carrie Sue and Laura, along with sons Bret and Scott Thomas.
