Jim Hier, Boss:
"We have just returned from Branson, Missouri and stayed at the Lodge of the Ozarks in order to check out their facilities. Breakfast is included with the room and Georgia gave it two thumbs up. We met with Renee Contreras, our contact person for rooms, and she showed us the Crystal Room where our reunion will be held.
The Crystal Room is located on the second floor at the end of the corridor and is totally accessible. It is a large room (62’ x 76’) and holds 250 people comfortably. There is a small stage, projection screen, microphone, and dance floor at the front of the room. There are a few electrical outlets on each side. Entry is from the rear. One side of the rear wall is curtained for chair storage. On the other side is a small kitchen prep area with a sink, counter, ice machine, refrigerator, and possibly a warming unit.
The hotel does not have a bar or restaurant. There is a catered breakfast for hotel guests only on the ground floor. The VNLCA is renting the Crystal for our own use and we may bring in our own food and drinks (BYOB) for consumption in that room. Alcohol is NOT permitted in the public areas of the hotel.
From the size. layout, and facilities in the Crystal Room, I believe we can do everything there: Registration, T-shirts, Name tags, Banquet Tickets, and Raffle Tickets, Meet-n-Greet, Drinks and Snacks, Slide Show, Meetings, and sit-down Banquet. We will be able to lock the room at night.
The hotel has suggested several caterers who do business there so they are familiar with the hotel and room. We have contacted them and are trying to get the best meal and prices.
Several places have been suggested for the Wednesday night activity.
Dolly Parton’s Stampede - dinner and show
Branson Belle Showboat - dinner and show
Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this?
We are looking for volunteers to assist or take charge of Registration (banquet tickets, name tags) and T-shirts and Wednesday night activity. We are also looking for someone to create a slide show presentation on the computer or CD/flash drive of landclearers in action to be shown during the reunion. We are also looking for a projector if anyone has one they can bring.
Georgia could use some help from the ladies (or guys) putting out the food for the meet-n-greet and also making table toppers for the banquet. Just email Georgia for more information.
